Ian Kent Wins Gold ! |
Ian Kent gets gold! I have first met Ian as a table tennis
player the 2007 Parapan American games in Rio in 2007. He was always a fit man
having played soccer at the national level and always involved with elite table
tennis as well. Suddenly he woke up one day and was very weak. He was diagnosed
with a form of dystonia creating weaknesses and abnormal sustained muscle
contraction causing postural abnormalities. He has continued playing table
tennis and has been involved in the parasport division since 2003. Today, he
won a gold medal against a young Brazilian some 30 years younger than Ian is.
Ian lives by his motto: “If better is possible, good is not enough.” He was thrilled
to see us in the stands cheering for him as he seldom sees Canadian fans at
table tennis venues as it is not the favored sport many. Great to see him
succeed.
